Gatten Sushi - Otawara, Tochigi

Map Location

This is a pretty good conveyor belt Sushi restaurant. Its one of our favorite local restaurants.

The food is good and not expensive, but the number one feature of this restaurant is the extreme enthusiasm of the staff. Of course sushi chefs are always exuberant, but these guys take it to a new high.

The sushi is good. We always end up ordering most of our food directly from the chefs rather than taking it from the train.

note to self or a knowledgeable reader, should the restaurant name be Gaten? Try 1: Gatsuten, Try 2: Gaten, now its Try 3: Gatten

My wife's family lives in Otawara and I have visited there many times. Otawara is a nice quiet town. I enjoy visiting there.

Hi Tornados,

Thanks for your post. Any advice for things to check out in the area would be much appreciated.

If you haven't been to Nasu yet, of course that is a great place to visit. Many nice shops and cafes and nice scenery.

The local Shinto Shrine on the hill above Otawara is also a really nice place to walk around. It is surrounded by trees above the city. The Buddhist temple is next to it below the hill.

Thank you, thank you. We've been to Nasu quite a few times. Still lots more for us to see up there. And I believe the Emperors house up there just got substantially opened to the public so we had better check that out.

mmmmm. I must look into the shrine.

I stumbled upon your blog and saw the lovely photos that you have on Tochigi. My friends and I are trying to put together a coffeetable book on beautiful Tochigi to pay tribute for the terrible disasters that happened in Japan.

Will you be able to allow us to use your photo for our book? Full credit will be given to the photographer.

Thanks. I look forward to your reply soon.

Take good care.

With love,

Hi Fanny,

First of yes, you may use the photos in any way that you like. I have more and also the ones on the blog are available in higher resolution if you need be (original RAW files from the camera even, if you need).

I'd be happy to be credited with the the photos, but your project is a noble cause, so you may use them in any way that you like.
