Lightning Strike

House got struck by lightning last night. Tochigi lightning seems to work like elsewhere. Everything is broken. In the middle of summer holidays.

Please bear with my incomplete previous post and sparse updates until I get this sorted. Me thinks holidays, our terrible Japanese and probably widespread damage in the area will make this a slow process. Wish us luck.

In what area of Otawara do you live?

We live here:
Our place
Strictly speaking its Nasushiobara, but it seems to be surrounded by Otawara so we just say Otawara.

What area of Socal do you live? We lived in Orange County for 5 years before coming to Japan.

I see you live near the Shinkansen station.

I live in Woodland Hills in the San Fernando Valley but I work downtown so I take the subway.

Japanese cities and towns are confusing where they begin and end, especially with all the mergers. Otawara merged with two other cities recently as well.

I created an Otawara Wikipedia page using information from the city website but I have not updated it recently.

What kind of work do you do in Otawara if you don't mind me asking. I am always curious what work foreigners do in Japan

Sorry to be slow to reply. We are all set up again after the lightning strike.

I took a look at your wiki entry. Thats neat to be published in wikipedia.

One of the links you posted was to Toshiba Medical Systems. Thats where I work. I'm in the ultrasound group.
